How does the treatment work? VPL™, or Variable Pulsed Light, gently delivers precise dosages of light in small pulses. The light generates heat which targets melanin in age spots, collagen to fill in fine lines, wrinkles, even scars. It also targets blood to treat vascular conditions like face veins, leg spider veins, and Rosacea. VPL™ can also treat Acne.
Who can be treated? The versatile VPL™ provides a safe and effective treatment for most skin types. A consultation will provide you with answers and a complete treatment program that will include any relevant precautionary advice.
What's the treatment process? After a full consultation, a comprehensive treatment program can be developed to match your needs and requirements. Depending upon which treatments you choose the basic procedure will stay the same: the area to be treated will be prepared and the applicator head will be stepped across the skin to ensure complete coverage. Treatments are quick and you can return to your regular schedule immediately after.
Is there any discomfort? The incredible new technology does all of these treatments with minimal discomfort. Most people report feeling a mild ‘snapping’ sensation (like the snap of a small rubber band), but no residual discomfort. A series of 4 to 8 treatments are done at 3 week intervals. Each treatment only takes 20 to 30 minutes.
Good - these are ‘lunchtime’ treatments. There is no downtime after the treatments waiting for skin to heal.
Better - the treatments are very comfortable. Any associated discomfort can be minimized with a mild topical anesthetic.
Best - the results do not ‘wear off’. It’s incredible! After your series of treatments, you will age naturally from the end point of your treatments. Routine maintenance and proper skin care will also lengthen the time you’ll enjoy the visible results of your treatments.
What should I do prior to treatment? It is advisable to stay out of the sun and to avoid tanning beds prior to any treatment. Avoid self tanning lotions too. A tan, real or artificial, is a layer of melanin at the surface of your skin - it’s your body’s natural ‘sun block’. Ideally, for a light treatment to be its most effective, your skin should be as close as possible to its natural color. Without the ‘block’ of a tan, your clinician can most effectively use the awesome power of VPL™. Additionally, you should remove all cosmetics. As the skin may be more sensitive, immediately after your treatment you should avoid sun exposure. The use of sun protection products are strongly recommended.
