Answers

What is Juvéderm®?
Juvéderm® Injectable Gel is a non-animal dermal filler and the ONLY hyaluronic acid (HA) filler that is FDA approved. Because this smooth consistency gel is made from hyaluronic acid, which naturally occurs in the body and plays a vital role in hydrating the skin and replenishing the natural volume, no allergy skin tests are needed prior to treatment. Juvéderm® is a safe and effective yet quick and easy non-surgical option for minimizing facial wrinkles and folds as well as contouring the lips.

How does Juvéderm® work?
Dr. Rogers eases Juvéderm® under the skin using a fine needle to fill the soft tissue of the dermis to add volume and diminish wrinkles and folds. Following the injection, she then gently massages the treated area. The procedure is quick and easy, and the injection itself usually only takes about 15 minutes.

What areas can you use Juvéderm® for?

Juvéderm® is great for facial wrinkles and folds such as “laugh lines”, “smile lines”, “parentheses” (nasolabial folds), or “marionette lines” (oral commissures), and is also being used for contouring lips.

Does the Juvéderm® injection work?
Dr. Rogers may use topical or injectable anesthesia to numb the treatment area first; therefore, the injection process is pain free.

How long do the results from Juvéderm® last?
Juvéderm® is the ONLY hyaluronic acid (HA) filler that is FDA approved to last up to 1 year.

Are there risks or side effects?

Juvéderm® is typically tolerated very well. Some reactions may occur after the treatment, including but not limited to redness, pain, firmness, swelling, and bumps. Studies show, however, that these reactions are usually mild to moderate in nature and clear up on their own in 7 days or less. If you experience a swelling reaction at the injection site, an ice pack may be applied for a brief period. And as with all skin injections, there is a risk of infection.

When can I expect to see results after treatment?
Results with Juvéderm® can be seen immediately. Most patients need only one treatment to achieve the optimal results, with those results lasting up to 1 year. However, results vary and touch-up treatments may be required in order to maintain the desired volume and wrinkle smoothing.

Are there any limitations after treatment?
For the first 24 hours after treatment, the following should be avoided: strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, and the consumption of alcohol. This will help to minimize any temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the injection sites. Also, Dr. Rogers will inform you when it is okay to wear makeup following your treatment.
